Development Specialist


The museum’s Development department seeks qualified applicants for its Annual Giving Development Specialist position.  Working in collaboration with the Director of Annual Giving, the Development Specialist coordinates all aspects of circles appeals: implements work plan and goals; develops solicitation and acknowledgement letters, ensures timely and effective mailings and follow-up throughout the year.  Typical duties include maintaining and tracking budgets for Annual Giving, and as assigned for specific projects, and gathers statistical data, including performance and benchmarking data for presentation to the Director of Annual Giving; works with donor engagement/relations staff in the coordination of cultivation events and attends all appropriate donor events and other donor related events as needed to assist in donor cultivation and stewardship; facilitates the acknowledgement and renewal process for annual support gifts; works with development services staff to ensure accurate and timely acknowledgement, tracking, and reporting of individual gifts; and provides administrative support to Annual Giving in regards to the cultivation and solicitation of major gift prospects. 

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred and two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Interest in visual arts preferred. Candidates should possess excellent writing skills, planning and organizational skills, be computer proficient, and have experience with word processing, database and spreadsheet software. Must be professional and have excellent interpersonal skills with a pleasant demeanor and the ability to interact diplomatically with staff members and donors. Candidates must be thorough and detail-oriented with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Proven ability to deal with sensitive material in a confidential matter essential.  Ability to provide exceptional customer service to all types of constituents is a must.
