Interested in beginning or advancing a career in the arts? A variety of talents and skills are needed at the Cleveland Museum of Art. We look for dynamic, creative individuals with the knowledge and experience to join our staff and enhance our reputation as one of the finest comprehensive art museums in the United States.
Internships and Fellowships
The Cleveland Museum of Art offers both unpaid and paid internship and fellowship opportunities. In addition to adding practical skills to their résumés, museum interns meet regularly with museum professionals to gain a sense of the overall workings of the institution. We structure our internship terms to comply with most university requirements for an independent study; check with your college or university for details on its requirements.
While specific opportunities for placement change from semester to semester, past placements have occurred in various departments such as curatorial, education, collections management, and the Ingalls Library.
The museum accepts interns for placement in the fall, spring, and summer terms.
Summer 2017 — Applications have been extended to March 31, 2017, unless otherwise noted on the internship or fellowship posting.
To apply, candidates should submit a 500-word essay detailing what he or she hopes to gain from an internship at The Cleveland Museum of Art, in addition to a résumé of employment and education; a writing sample not longer than 3 pages in length, and at least one letter of recommendation. Letters of recommendation can be sent to internship [at] clevelandart.org. Different internships may also require additional application materials, which will be noted in the listings. Students must be currently enrolled in college or graduate school in order to be considered for an internship.
The Cleveland Museum of Art is an equal opportunity employer.
