Description

This type of ornament would have been affixed to the front of a turban as an emblem of high noble status. The raised central element mimics the shape of an eagle feather or plume.
A gilt silver turban ornament features a large, rectangular pale yellow gemstone at the center of a wide, symmetrical base. From this base, the frame tapers upward into a slender neck topped by three pointed peaks. Intricate floral openwork is inset with diamonds, rubies, and blue sapphires. Eight teardrop-shaped emeralds dangle from circular hooks: six along the bottom edge and two from the upper corners.
