Description

Miniature baskets were made to demonstrate the basket-maker’s virtuoso skill, and these tiny marvels seem to be no exception—the smallest are just a few millimeters wide but still patterned. For such fine work, dexterity was required as much for preparation of materials as for weaving.
A small, ring-shaped basket woven with thick light tan and dark brown plant fibers creating a dense, tight weave with vertical ridges across its rounded walls. Dark fibers form a repeating geometric pattern of slanted, diamond-like shapes around the circumference. The basket is widest at its center, with a small circular opening at the top revealing a hollow interior. It sits centered against a neutral gray background.
