A pear-shaped wood lute has a weathered, dark-brown surface showing visible vertical grain. Six thin, off-white strings stretch from a decorative, light-colored bridge at the broad base, tangling at the top of a long, tapering neck. Horizontal wood bars run across the neck in a row. Where the neck meets the body, a small rectangular paper label inscribed with columns of black characters is attached. The instrument curves into a wide, rounded form.
