A dark brown-black iron sword guard features a circular rim connected by six thin spokes to an oval central plate. Along the wide rim and central plate are faded golden vine and leaf patterns inlaid into the pitted, textured surface. At the center is a vertical, pointed oval opening. The piece exhibits a combination of geometric structure and organic gold-colored motifs on a weathered metal base.
