A rounded square iron sword guard features openwork designs. A central vertical opening is flanked by two side holes. A gnarled plum branch with small blossoms winds from the bottom left toward the top. Perched atop the central opening is a crane with textured wings facing right. The dark, matte surface has a pitted texture, accented with small gold flecks on the bird and in the centers of the flowers.
