A rounded octagonal sword guard features an eight-lobed shape and a dark-brown, textured iron surface. A thin brass rim borders the edge, encircling four heart-shaped cutouts. Three central openings consist of a vertical slot flanked by oval and three-lobed holes. Ornate brass wire creates a scrolling vine pattern across the face, interspersed with small, metallic leaves and beads in brass and copper tones.
