A tsuba, a circular iron sword guard, features an openwork design of bamboo. In the center, a raised oval section contains an elongated vertical opening. Vertical stalks extend to the top and bottom edges, while thin branches with pointed leaves spread toward the outer rim. The dark, weathered metal surface is textured with small pits and uneven patches throughout.
