A horizontally oriented etching on a copper plate depicts a coastal scene with several shorebirds. Fine, dark lines define birds standing near marsh grass and hills against the warm metallic surface. One bird stands on the left, while others congregate toward the center and right. A large diamond lattice pattern of deep, diagonal scratches overlaps the entire composition, cancelling the plate. The copper displays varied golden and brown tones across its surface.
