Description

A gift of six color images by Outerbridge was the second group of photographs to enter the museum’s fine art collection. Supporting himself as an advertising photographer and graphic designer, he began experimenting with color photography and printing in 1929, when the processes were still very unstable and arcane. Outerbridge preferred the vivid hues and permanence of the dauntingly complex carbro process, which produced color prints from black-and-white negatives.
