Did You Know?

The cowrie shell and beads on this hat were imported to central Africa.
A glass bead and cloth garment is formed by a wide, conical base tapering into a narrow neck and bulbous crown. The lower section features repeating dark blue and white zigzag patterns. A small motif of red and turquoise beads decorates the center. The crown displays a blue and pale green checkered pattern. Small beads cover the entire surface, with a slight opening in the beadwork visible on the right.
