A square cream-colored linen sampler features a monochromatic embroidered pattern. A large, eight-petaled flower is centered, its petals containing lace-like fillings. This central motif is surrounded by varied floral sprays, winding vines, and a small bird. In the upper right, a leafy wreath silhouettes cursive script. A scalloped border with circular holes frames the composition, which utilizes diverse stitching to create raised textures and patterned fills throughout.
