A vertically long brown linen sampler features a floral vine border in muted red, white, and blue silk. The upper half is divided by horizontal decorative bands, star-like motifs, and four lines of pale text. Below a golden zigzag line, a large central bouquet with flamelike petals is flanked by symmetrical urns and small floral motifs. Near the bottom, embroidered text reads "Jane Williams Completed This Mar 23 1823."
