A vertical needlework sampler features rows of cursive and block alphabets stitched in muted beige silk against a dark green ground. Geometric borders divide the lettering, numbers, and an inscription commemorating eleven-year-old Lusanna Williams in 1808. The lower half features the large, stylized word EDUCATION above an eight-line poem on virtue. Small diamond motifs accent the right edge, while the overall textile exhibits raw, frayed edges along its rectangular perimeter.
