Description

The design of this piece of lace is similar to three other pieces of lace in the CMA's collection—1945.87–89.
A horizontally long linen bobbin lace edging features a detailed, light-gray openwork pattern of repeating floral and swirling motifs. Small, dense areas of thread are surrounded by a thin, net-like background, creating a uniform weave across the entire narrow strip. The edging has straight horizontal edges, showcasing intricate, delicate patterns through the continuous band of fine lace.
