A slender, cylindrical opium pipe of mottled dark brown and amber imitation tortoise-shell slants diagonally. Ornately patterned gilt silver bands encase both ends, capped in ivory. Near the lower left, a textured silver mount holds a small, dark gray octagonal bowl resting on a short stem. The pipe's smooth, variegated surface contrasts with the intricate metalwork, creating a rhythmic interplay of material, texture, and color along its length.
