Did You Know?

The stem terminates in the shape of a closed hand holding a green porcelain bowl.
A lacquer and porcelain opium pipe features a long, dark cylindrical stem mottled with reddish-orange. At the lower right, a green glazed porcelain bowl is sculpted into a hand clutching a rounded bulb. Ornate copper bands secure the stem to the bowl and a matching green mouthpiece cap. The hand's detailed fingers support the bulb's reflective surface, which shows a small chip missing from the upper right edge.
