Description

Rosaries were devices for counting a sequence of prayers and were the proud possessions of the elite, along with their books of hours. In paintings and miniatures they are often shown looped through the belts of their owners.
A gilt copper, devotional, and faceted strand of beads curves horizontally, its ten small beads and two larger ovals strung on pink cord. Black Latin text including "AVE" and "MA" marks the gold-colored surfaces alongside red, white, and blue floral motifs. Fine engravings detail the metal while muted pink fabric bows finish both ends. This ornate rosary balances delicate ornamentation and religious script across its undulating form.
