Description

This lace tablecloth includes four main medallions, the scenes in which are taken from paintings of the four seasons in the Louvre by French artist Nicolas Lancret (1690–1743). Other medallions depict gardening tools and birds, among other motifs.
A horizontally long, white linen lace tablecloth features a dense, symmetrical composition of scrolling vines, flowers, and leaves. Intricate needlepoint threads create a shimmering web-like texture across the surface. Along the horizontal center and edges, several larger oval medallions contain delicate figures and stylized letters. These patterns are broken by small brownish spots, while mirrored arrangements of ornate foliage and scrolls fill the rectangle, ending in fine, lace-trimmed borders.
