A gold and mother-of-pearl pencil is shaped like a slender, cylindrical rod with diagonal, swirled markings. Its base is formed by a gold segment that tapers through a series of stacked, rounded rings to a sharp point. The top is finished with a flat gold cap and a tiny, rounded protrusion. The object maintains a uniform width until reaching the decorative point at its bottom.
