Description

This textile fragment preserves a pair of addorsed peacocks in tan on a plain tan background.
A muted brown silk textile fragment features two rows of mirror-image peacocks facing one another. Adorned with neckbands and patterned bodies, the dark brown birds display large, arched circular tails. The roughly square cloth is heavily damaged, with ragged edges and irregular holes cutting through the weave on the left. Against the lighter ground, these repeating avian pairs stand in profile, their stylized forms emerging from the worn, aged fabric.
