An octagonal dark tortoise shell box with lobed edges features intricate gold designs. Symmetrical scrollwork and cross-hatched patterns frame central motifs on the front and sides. Above, the lid depicts a landscape with figures and a horse-drawn carriage. A small fan-shaped gold latch sits at the center front edge. The polished dark surface contrasts sharply with the fine gold filigree wrapping around the entire vessel.
