Description

Cook's work reveals his interest in the magic of the photographic process. His darkroom experiments included multiple negative or slide combinations, along with manipulations with an enlarger to achieve the desired effect. Stuck is a unique print of the Cleveland museum's Thinker, by Auguste Rodin, severely vandalized with dynamite on March 24, 1970. The sculpture, thrown off its pedestal by the explosion, was set back in place in a metal cage for support while museum officials decided how to repair it. This arresting photograph is Cook's response to that violent act—its aftermath still visible today.
