Originally this exquisite sheet belonged to a series of 21 drawings illustrating the creation and early history of man as recounted in Genesis. Today, 16 are known to have survived. Jewel-like in its preciousness and minute detail, this drawing describes Eden as a virtual microcosm populated by a dizzying array of plants and animals.
