Description

The mirror was cast using lost-wax technology. Extensive chisel work was done to finish the back. Harsh chemicals were used to remove the corrosion from the mirror, leaving re-deposited copper scattered on the surface.
An eight-lobed bronze mirror, aged with a dark brown patina and patches of green oxidation, has a circular center with creatures in relief. A crouching animal forms a central knob, surrounded by four lunging beasts. Detailed vines, grape clusters, and birdlike figures weave through the textured background. Each lobe of the border contains a delicate floral motif. The weathered surface displays a metallic sheen interlaced with corrosion across the intricate, raised details.
