Description

The mirror was cast using lost-wax technology. Little finishing work is evident on the back. Extensive cracking, typical of high tin mirrors is evident.
This circular bronze mirror, textured with green oxidation, features intricate relief carvings. A central knob is surrounded by crouching beasts and grape clusters. An outer band depicts birds and animals among scrolling vines and leaves. Beaded borders divide these decorative zones, while the outermost rim has a repeating pattern of small circles. The dark metallic surface is punctuated by silver-toned highlights on the raised figures, emphasizing the detailed, layered composition.
