Description

This futuristic coffee set was designed by Stuart Devlin while he was studying silversmithing at the Royal College of Art in London. Besides its unornamented surface, its use of black plastic sleeves to hold the coffee and hot milk pots was innovative because it eliminated the need for traditional handles.
A silver lid features a shallow circular base with a domed top and a tall, black nylon handle rising vertically from the center. The smooth, cylindrical handle terminates in a flat top, while the silver below is marked by dark tarnish and fine scratches. A narrow vertical rim defines the base's bottom edge. The piece pairs a sleek, modern silhouette with the weathered, reflective texture of aged metal.
