Did You Know?

This vessel represents a major type of Colima pottery.
A reddish-brown ceramic vessel depicts a four-legged animal sitting back on its thick front legs. Small, white-outlined circular eyes and a narrow snout define the head, which is lowered. Rising from a flat, angled plane on its back is a wide, cylindrical spout. Dark patches and scuffs mark the smooth slip. Small ears extend backward, while tiny, incised toes finish the paws, adding naturalistic detail to the rounded body.
