An agate and gold snuff box, a tall oval vessel, features a fluted body and lid of polished stone with wavy bands of cream, tan, and dark brown. Gold bands frame the base and the hinged lid's rim. At the front, an ornate clasp centers a large blue sapphire flanked by clear diamonds and smaller blue gems. Vertical ridges accentuate the object's slender, upright silhouette.
