Did You Know?

Op Art is short for optical art, which employs visual illusions.

Description

Op Art practitioner Mieczkowski created this painting in order to explore some of the perceptual effects of overlapping forms and colors. Featuring 1,316 three-quarter circular shapes in blues, greens, and yellows arrayed against a checkerboard background with gradations of gray, black, and white, Blue Bloc seems to morph in and out of focus across its surface while simultaneously pulsating from within.
