Description

The front has a bust of Artemis, a diadem circling her head and a quiver over her shoulder. On the reverse is Apollo Delphios holding a laurel branch, standing on a meander pattern, and leaning his left elbow on a tripod, all within a laurel wreath. Magnesia is located southeast of Ephesus on a tributary of the Meander River.
A circular silver coin depicts a nude man facing our right and leaning his left arm on a tall stand. A laurel wreath frames the scene. Vertical columns of Greek text flank the man, including "EROGNETOS" and "MAGNETON." Below his feet, a square geometric pattern is formed by interlocking lines. The tarnished gray metal shows wear and a small crack on our right edge.
