A vertically oriented oil painting depicts a man with a medium skin tone and dark, curly hair turned slightly to our right. He looks toward us with closed lips and long sideburns. Emerging from a dark, shadowy background, he wears a high-collared white shirt, a knotted cravat, and a black double-breasted coat. Light from our left highlights his face, while a signature and date appear in the bottom right corner.
