Description

Bonebrake was captivated by large vibrant works that exemplify expert color printing and attract attention when framed and displayed. The Fancy Goods Store, which depicts the Paris department store Le Bon Marché, is perhaps Lunois’s finest print.
A horizontal color lithograph depicts a bustling department store interior. Centrally, a woman in a vibrant red coat stands amidst a crowd of shoppers in muted hats and coats. To our right, a small child also wears red. Above, glowing white globe lamps and balconies with loosely rendered figures occupy the upper level. Centered below the scene, the French title "LE MAGASIN DE NOUVEAUTÉS" is printed in capital letters.
