Description

The form of a medallion with a figural bust and bead-and-reel border indicates the artist’s familiarity with Greco-Roman objects. The figure itself, however, is Indian, with voluminous, coiled coiffures and prominent jewelry. This object was probably worn as an ornament on a belt or girdle.
A green and brown bronze sculpture depicts a human bust in high relief on a circular roundel. Facing forward, the figure has large eyes and a closed mouth, with wavy hair gathered into a bun atop the head on the right. The weathered, mottled surface is framed by a decorative beaded border. A small hole pierces the bottom edge.
