Photographers hired to document parties usually show people having fun.

Description

Larry Fink looks for the moments that reveal the tensions that often underpin social events—people uncomfortable in dress-up clothes and high heels, forced smiles, fake kisses, and awkward social situations. And yes, boredom.
A square-format black-and-white photograph depicts a man and a woman with light skin tone dancing, centered in the frame. Facing away, the man's dark hair fills the lower foreground. Looking over his shoulder, the woman has wide eyes and a closed mouth. Her right arm reaches across his back, hand resting on his shoulder. An ornate, glowing crystal chandelier hangs above them against a dark background.
