A horizontally oriented etching and aquatint depicts a dark, winged stone creature perching on a textured ledge on the right, its neck extending toward the left. Below, weathered stone spouts jut toward the left margin. On the left, a pale cityscape with church spires and rolling hills stretches toward a sketchy sky. Dense black hatching creates deep shadows on the foreground masonry, contrasting with the delicate, fine lines of the distant town.
