Lozowick evokes a variety of textures in this abstract image, including a rectangle with woodgrain at lower right.

Description

Ukranian-born Louis Lozowick immigrated to America in 1906 and made the modernity of his adopted home the primary subject of his work. This lithograph is one of many that he made over the following decades in a precise geometric style meant to emphasize the efficiency of American society. This abstracted image suggests the telephone system through repeated diagonals and vaguely mechanical forms.
