Although Viktor Schreckengost was introduced to new ideas in Vienna through the teaching of Michael Powolny and others, the exhibition and acquisition of Dina Kuhn’s Das Wasser (Water) by the Cleveland Museum of Art before his departure in 1929 reveals that he may already have seen Viennese portrait design in his hometown.
