This Month at the CMA: Birthday Parties, Parade the Circle, and Centennial Celebrations
June, 2016 is an exciting month at the CMA! The CMA's official birthday, Parade the Circle and Centennial Festival weekend all take place throughout the month of June. Mark your calendars and see below for details on these stellar upcoming centennial events.
Members-Only Birthday Celebration
Mon, 6/6, 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
Members will enjoy a red-carpet entrance, behind-the-scenes access, tours inspired by key figures in the museum’s past, gallery talks, musical performances, and ice cream. Additionally, both Studio Play, and the renovated Japanese and Korean galleries will be open to all CMA members for the first time.
Official CMA Birthday Party
Tues, 6/7, 10:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.
Visitors are invited to enjoy special programs, tours, live music, free entry to the centennial exhibition Pharaoh: King of Ancient Egypt (no advance ticket reservations), and CMA-inspired cake and ice cream. Guests will also be able to experience both Studio Play, and the renovated Japanese and Korean galleries will be open to the public for the first time.
Parade the Circle 2016: Temenos
Sat, 6/11, Parade at noon, activities at Circle Village 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
This 27th annual celebration art parade will fill Wade Oval with lively sounds and colors, featuring innovative costumes, giant puppets and handmade masks created by international and national artists as well as Greater Cleveland artists, families, schools and community groups. Visitors are also invited to participate in many hands-on activities offered by local organizations in Circle Village.
Centennial Festival Weekend
The premier weekend of the museum’s centennial summer features a two-day celebratory music and arts festival. Visitors will experience special programming, tours, music, and local artist demonstrations. Solstice, the museum’s signature summer music festival, will take place the evening of Sat, 6/25. The weekend’s grand finale includes a Centennial Celebration Concert by the world-famous Cleveland Orchestra on Sun, 6/26.
