Make Your Mark on CMA History: The Column & Stripe Centennial Time Capsule
Leave your mark on CMA history as we celebrate the museum's centennial year with Column & Stripe: The Young Friends of the Cleveland Museum of Art!
Don’t know much about Column & Stripe? We’re huge supporters of the museum’s educational and community outreach efforts across northeast Ohio – a mission we want to support well into the museum’s next century. Additionally, a core component of our organization’s mission is to develop the next generation of artists, art lovers, and philanthropists. Because of this, we’re offering this exclusive philanthropic opportunity to preserve your memories in our Column & Stripe Centennial Time Capsule, which will be interred in the CMA’s Ingalls Library and Museum Archives until 2026.
In honor of the CMA’s 100th anniversary, we’re offering 100 spaces in the time capsule, which will be in the form of a bound scrapbook. The only rules? Your entry must be two-dimensional and fit within the space you reserve. Beyond that, we want you to express yourself through original artwork, photography, prose, newspaper clippings, ribbons, or anything else two-dimensional – we’re relying on you to make the content an interesting snapshot of life and art in 2016. If you have any questions about what you can submit – or need ideas – just ask! Don’t want to wait until 2026 to see the completed project? Once bound, the time capsule will be on display (under lock and key) for a limited time in the CMA’s Ingalls Library and Museum Archives for public display. After that, we’ll inter the time capsule and look ahead to when we can bring it out and once again share it with the community.
Reserving your spot is easy. Just call Emily Rebmann at 216-707-2579 or fill out a form here to reserve your space. Then we’ll contact you to get your information and to finalize all arrangements. These sized spaces are available:
- $10 High School Yearbook “Senior Superlative” entry
- $25 for a 6-x-6-inch space
- $50 for a 6-x-12-inch space
- $100 for a 12-x-12-inch space
Additionally, we have a few exclusive sponsorship opportunities available including front cover, back cover, dedication page, and more. Contact Emily Rebmann for more information and pricing.
Remember – just like a centennial anniversary, this opportunity only comes around once every 100 years. When we have 100 donors (at any amount), we’ll close the time capsule until 2026. Meanwhile, there will be fun and surprises along the way, starting with an invitation-only behind-the-scenes archives tour for the first 20 donors. Reserve your spot now and get ready to leave your legacy! Donations are nonrefundable. Submissions are subject to review and may also be featured in promotional materials.
