This Week at the CMA: MIX at CMA: Metal, Classical Music Performances, Centennial Loans & More

Check out these five must-attend events this week at the CMA!

MIX at CMA: Metal
Fri, 11/4
The glitter of gold, the sheen of silver––this MIX is all about metal in art. Take a tour of the Armor Court, get the chance to touch real armor and discover one of the museum’s most unique objects in Myth & Mystique: Cleveland’s Gothic Table Fountain. Plus, enjoy big brass sound in the atrium with Cleveland’s own Revolution Brass Band.

Sat, 11/5
A series of compelling programs under the baton of Tim Weiss.

Open Now: Opulent Fashion in the Church
Through Sun, 9/24/2017
See radiant textiles embellished the high altar. This exhibition honors Mr. and Mrs. Jeptha H. Wade II, the museum’s visionary co-founder and president, who donated most of these European vestments of the 1600s and 1700s.

Open Now: Cheating Death: Portrait Photography’s First Half Century
Through Sun, 2/5/17
See more than 50 portraits from the medium’s first 50 years, almost all drawn from the museum’s extraordinarily rich holdings of 19th-century photography.
Orazio Gentileschi's The Lute Player, a generous loan from the National Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, is on view at the CMA in gallery 217!
