Doll of Boy With Dog, On View NOW
This doll, Boy with Dog, is on view NOW! As seen here, the doll is a nodder, with its head carved separately; when its head moves, its tongue sticks out.
The colors and patterns of the doll’s robe resemble the fashion of the latter part of the Momoyama period (1573–1615). Look for the phoenix motif on his robe and on some of the other newly installed pieces in the CMA’s Japanese galleries (235 A & B)!
