Parade the Circle Welcomes African Artists from Burkina Faso on June 12

CLEVELAND (April 28, 2010) — A favorite Northeast Ohio family tradition, Parade the Circle returns this summer with an all-new African connection designed to complement the narratives featured in the latest galleries opening at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Presented by the museum in partnership with University Circle Inc, Parade the Circle and Circle Village will take place on Saturday, June 12, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m, with the parade at noon.

Summer Solstice Party Returns to the Cleveland Museum of Art on June 19 with International Flair

CLEVELAND (April 29, 2010) – On Saturday, June 19, the Cleveland Museum of Art will celebrate the longest day of the year with an all-night party welcoming the newest gallery openings. Revelers for the 2010 Summer Solstice Party are invited to globetrot through new galleries of Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Byzantine, medieval and African art, as well as prints, drawings and more, while enjoying international musicians from Africa, the Middle East and the United States. The party will take place throughout the entire museum complex and on its south lawn, beginning at 5:30 p.m.

A New Music Commission Brings Chinese Master Instrumentalists to the Cleveland Museum of Art's VIVA! & Gala Performing Arts Series

CLEVELAND (November 21, 2011) – The Cleveland Museum of Art's VIVA! & Gala Performing Arts Series presents the world premiere of a musical commission titled Chinese Art Music: Yang Wei and Ensemble on Friday, December 9 at 7:30 p.m. in the museum's Gartner Auditorium.

TEDxCLE 2012 Brings Cleveland's Innovators to the Global TED Audience

CLEVELAND (March 13, 2012) – Cleveland's third official TEDx event, TEDxCLE will take place from 9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Cleveland Museum of Art. At TEDxCLE, Cleveland's innovators will speak on a variety of topics in order to highlight areas in which Cleveland is excelling and reinventing itself. This is the first time the event will be held at CMA. Tickets for last year's event sold out in two hours and we plan for a sellout crowd of 685 this year.

Celebrate the Season at the Winter Lights Lantern Festival throughout December

CLEVELAND (November 15, 2011) —The Cleveland Museum of Art presents the 18th annual Winter Lights Lantern Festival from December 2–31, 2011. The lanterns will be displayed outside on Wade Oval, inside the museum, and for the first time, on the new east wing terrace. Inspired by cross-cultural ceremonial lighting traditions, the community arts festival is a seasonal museum celebration and a component of University Circle Inc.'s Holiday CircleFest on Sunday, December 4.

CLEVELAND (December 16, 2011) – For the first time in museum history, the Cleveland Museum of Art is assembling distinguished business and government leaders in a symposium to discuss how Cleveland can learn and benefit from China's successful emergence as one of the world's leading economies in the 21st century; and how the expertise of the symposium's panelists can influence the development of an international business agenda for Northeast Ohio.

Inside the Parade Tent: Preparing for Parade the Circle

If you’ve visited Wade Oval in recent weeks, you may have noticed the large white tent that took up residence next to the Cleveland Museum of Natural History in late April. This is the Cleveland Museum of Art’s parade workshop tent, an annual fixture that serves as a home base for guest artists, community groups, and families and individuals participating in Parade the Circle.
