Spring Session
6 Saturdays, March 13–April 24 (no class April 3), 10:00–11:30 or 1:00–2:30. Taught by artists and art educators, each class visits the galleries and learns different techniques.
Art for Parent and Child (age 3) Morning only. Parents and children learn together to create images and objects inspired by gallery visits. Limit 12 pairs.
Mini-Masters (ages 4–5) Younger children talk about art and work with a variety of materials, sharpening small motor and observational skills while having fun.
Line Around (ages 5–6) Come and find all kinds of lines in our galleries: straight, curvy, loopy, and zigzag. Make art with your own lines created from paint, paper, yarn, and wire.
Prism (ages 6–8) Color is all around us in nature as well as art. Try mixing, matching, and creating all the colors of the prism in paints, pencils, cellophane, and more!
Art of the Native Americans (ages 8–10) Look at authentic art of the American Indians in our special exhibition. Compare and contrast different styles and materials, then make masks and beaded and feathered creations inspired by these objects.
Media Magic (ages 10–12) Art can be made out of almost anything! Experiment as we transform everyday objects and recyclables into art.
Teen Drawing Workshop (ages 13–17) Afternoon only. Drawing from observation in the galleries as well as the classroom, students stretch their skills through experimentation in pastel, charcoal, pen and ink, and pencil.
Claymation (ages 11–up) Design sets and learn how to create characters from armatures and polymer clay. Then use still cameras and our editing equipment to produce stop-motion animation. Special fee: $150, CMA

Young children and their favorite grown-up are introduced to art and the museum in this creative program that combines storytelling, play, and art making. Spring session includes Repeat, Repeat, 1–2–3, Spring, and 3-D. Fees for one adult and one child $60, CMA Family-level members $48. Limit 10 adult/child pairs.

Our ancient art galleries reopen June 27! Your child can discover the wonders of CMA galleries and unearth his/her own creativity in the process. Each class will visit our galleries every week and experiment with different techniques in painting, drawing, printmaking and assemblage.
Fees: Most classes are $60 for non-members/ $50 for Family members. Art for Parent and Child $75/$60

Four hands are always better than two! Parents and children learn together to create all kinds of art inspired by gallery visits. Limit 12 pairs.
Mini-Masters ( ages 4-5)
Exploration and discovery are encouraged as younger students learn about art works and make their own renditions in a variety of materials.
Animal Safari ( ages 5-6)
Animals, real and imaginary, abound in our galleries! Children will find and discuss them and create animals out of paint, paper, clay and mixed media.
Medieval Mania (ages 6-8)
Students learn about arms and armor, manuscripts, reliquaries, and other interesting objects from the Middle Ages. In the studio, they will construct versions of each of these.
Time Travelers (ages 8-10)
Students work on projects reflecting art from the past, present and future. Come and explore art from Egyptian mummy cases to African headdresses to our modern world and create your own artistic visions. Students work on projects reflecting art from the past, present and future.
