The curatorial staff of the Cleveland Museum of Art can not provide appraisals of works of art for insurance or sales purposes. Local art dealers and appraisers or local and international auction houses should be consulted for monetary appraisals. Please consult the yellow pages under "Art Galleries, Dealers and Consultants," "Appraisers" and "Auctioneers" for a more complete list of local art dealers and galleries, auction houses and appraisers. The inclusion of art dealers, auction houses and galleries, etc. on this list is not an endorsement by the Cleveland Museum of Art but a referral to appropriate resources.

III. Research on Art and Artists

The Museum's Ingalls Library, the third largest art museum library in the United States, houses a collection of nearly 425,000 volumes on art and art history. The library is open to members Tuesday – Friday from 10:00 – 5:00. Call the library reference desk (216-707-2530) for information on hours, access and collections or consult the library's web site library.clevelandart.org. In addition to the book collection, the library collection includes journals, exhibition, auction and dealer catalogues and images. Many databases are available for researching prices for works of art sold at auction and for researching artist biographical information. A reference librarian is available to assist users at all times the library is open.
