Convening the Community The museum developed a three-year initiative entitled Convening the Community, funded by the Lila Wallace-Reader's Digest Fund. Work funded by the grant was completed in the fall of 1999, but many of the initiatives started under Convening the Community are ongoing. The energetic project featured educational, outreach, and marketing programs to develop new audiences for the permanent collection, and these efforts continue to serve our entire community by providing interpretive programs both inside and outside the museum. Convening the Community was designed to bring the pleasure and meaning of art to the broadest possible Cleveland audience. The museum acknowledges the highly diverse population of Cleveland and wishes to find ways to help enrich the lives of people in the many different areas of the city. We are committed to encouraging greater use of the museum and to making the collections more accessible to visitors, especially those from communities in Cleveland who traditionally have not visited the museum.
