Tibet

The museum's expanding Tibetan collection provides greater understanding of the unique contributions to Buddhist faith by synthesizing artistic foundations of both Tibet and India.

Arguably one of the most beautiful and significant Tibetan thangka's in the world, the Thangka with Green Tara, 13th century illustrates the importance of Nepalese influence in Tibetan painting.

In addition, the portrait sculptures such as--Portrait of Lama Rinchen-Pel (1143-1217), founder of the Drigung Monastery, Central Tibet, 1200s--emphasize the importance of indigenous, native traditions.
