Join the Cleveland Museum of Art for yoga classes, presented in conjunction with the exhibition Yoga: The Art of Transformation, on view June 22–September 7, 2014. From yoga’s origins in India, it has transformed into a global phenomenon. Yoga classes at the CMA present a sampling of contemporary yoga styles as practiced in the United States, offering museum visitors the opportunity to explore the variety of yoga options available in northeast Ohio.

Registration Fee:

$19, single yoga session AND exhibition entry

$12, single yoga session ONLY

$8 CMA members, single yoga session

Register in person; by phone at 216-421-7350; or online at tickets.clevelandart.org, starting June 1. Space is limited and advance registration is highly recommended.

Classes meet in the Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation Exhibition Hall. Please bring your own mat (or purchase one from the museum store). All participants will be required to sign a release form before participating.

Jennifer Yuhas will lead a yoga flow class—an awakening and fluid vinyasa yoga experience with attention to the breath and movement appropriate for students of all levels. Modifications and embellishments will be offered accordingly.

Led by Elizabeth Miller, this class is a viniyoga-based class for reducing daily stress developed from the same protocol studied by Aetna, Duke University, and the American Viniyoga Institute. Stress impacts our bodies and our minds. In this class, we will use asana, breathing techniques, guided relaxation, and mental techniques to aid in reducing the effects of stress. All levels of yoga experience are welcome and encouraged.

This session will be a mixed levels Vinyasa Flow, with plenty of options for participants. Our instructors Mary Bell, Ms. Lyz Bly, PhD, and Beth Batchell, Traditional Thai Healer will combine their efforts for a very powerful, musically moving class that will include lots of hands on assistance.
