Join the Cleveland Museum of Art for yoga classes, presented in conjunction with the exhibition Yoga: The Art of Transformation, on view June 22–September 7, 2014. From yoga’s origins in India, it has transformed into a global phenomenon. Yoga classes at the CMA present a sampling of contemporary yoga styles as practiced in the United States, offering museum visitors the opportunity to explore the variety of yoga options available in northeast Ohio.

Classes meet in the Kelvin and Eleanor Smith Foundation Exhibition Hall. Please bring your own mat (or purchase one from the museum store). All participants will be required to sign a release form before participating.
Join Elizabeth Miller of Reden Yoga to explore a modern approach to the feminine side of yoga. Using asana, pranayama, and meditation, we will practice with guidance from our own intuitive wisdom.
Join Sandy Gross, founder/director of Evolution Yoga School & Practice Space, to explore an emerging theme in modern physical yoga—the ability for you to use yoga poses and self massage to gain a heightened sense of self knowledge, the ultimate goal of yoga.
This class will offer commentary-based meditation exercises that will help you improve awareness of both mind and body; understand and experience yourself as you really are, a spiritual being; and rediscover your innate spiritual qualities—peace, love, happiness, and power—not as intellectual ideas but as actual experiences.
Owner and Intermediate Junior Iyengar Yoga instructor Karen Allgire will teach a 75 minute Iyengar Yoga multi-level yoga class. Beginners are welcome, along with experienced students of all levels and traditions.
Instructor LaToya Kent will lead a beginner’s level Kundalini yoga class, including mantra, meditation, asana, and pranayama, designed for students to walk away with body awareness, relaxation, and balance.
Puma Yoga will present a vinyasa flow (alignment-based) yoga class open to all levels of practitioners.
This session will be a mixed levels Vinyasa Flow, with plenty of options for participants. Our instructors Mary Bell, Ms. Lyz Bly, PhD, and Beth Batchell, Traditional Thai Healer will combine their efforts for a very powerful, musically moving class that will include lots of hands on assistance.
Judi Bar E RYT-500, Yoga Therapist and Yoga Program Manager at the Cleveland Clinic Wellness Institute, will give a short presentation about the benefits of therapeutic yoga and how to integrate this mindful practice into your life. Movement, breath, affirmations, and relaxation will be practiced.
Lydia Williams will be leading participants in an all level mindful flow practice, leading to space and openness in the body and heart.
Amy Runnels will lead a hatha and vinyasa yoga experience that is open to all levels of participants. Immerse yourself in this refined style of yoga, focusing on healthy physical and mental alignment to maximize the energetic flow in your body.
