Museum Store Antioch was once one of the premier Mediterranean cities in the Roman and Early Christian world. The favorable climate, geography, and location in the Mediterranean region contributed to its agricultural and economic success. Antioch was known for its sophistication, the grand style of its buildings and colonnaded streets, and markets filled with exotic and luxurious goods. In the first half of the sixth century various calamities brought an end to prosperity in Antioch. Pillaged for its stone and buried by earthquakes, Ancient Antioch was lost until the 1930s when excavations began to uncover the city. The following items are available for purchase by visiting the CMA online store.
